KB Siida is a travel company that has been passed down for three generations. Our akkhu (grandmother) Kirsten Berit Gaup started it all by offering reindeer driving and excursions to travellers. Because of her the company is named KB-Siida (Kirsten Berit’s siida).
We have a winter camp within walking distance from the road where reindeers are the main attraction. We have tame and calm reindeers for those who might be a little bit afraid, and we have strong and powerful reindeers for those who are a little bit more daring. Our camp is situated idyllically in a pine forest by a small pond. This is where we have our lavvu set up and where we retreat back to after each activity – and we serve bonfire coffee to all our guests. Inside the lavvu we share stories about our history as a people, as well as a short education in sami music, known as joik. We also elaborate on sami mythology and how the sami people live today. Once everybody are nice and warm, we head out to throw lasso.
We tailor and adapt the activity level and duration to your wishes. We can also cook some traditional sami food such as reindeer meat, bouillon and marrow bones.
