Accommodation in a lavvu
Spend the night in the mountains sleeping in a lavvu. We are happy to tailor this experience around your needs and wants.
The trip starts with reindeer sledding in the pine forest of Ravdujohka before we head northwest towards Nagirjavri (the sleepy lake), where the landscape becomes considerably more open. This takes about an hour. Upon arrival at the campsite we will prepare a meal of reindeer meat and warm up. Next you will decide whether you want us to setup the lavvu or if you want to participate and learn how to. After a warm meal we will head out onto the ice and test our fishing skills. Once the activities have ended we will leave you by yourself to enjoy the rest of the evening. For an additional fee we can offer a night watch to keep the lavvu heated throughout the night. Once you wake up we will serve breakfast, before we pack up and join the civilization again.
The lavvu is decorated with birch crown and reindeer pelt, as well as a sleeping bag, to keep you warm.
It’s possible to book several nights in tha lavvu – which opens up for more lakes to icefish in and a visit to Ravnastua.
Over night, but can be tailored to several nights.
Winter in Finnmark can reach several minus degrees and we advise that you wear several layers of clothing. Karasjok has the record for the coldest weather being reported in Norway. Woollen underwear, intermediate layer and preferably a down jacket underneath a windproof jacket. Keep in mind that your feet get cold first, so make sure that you wear some proper winter shoes and warm socks. If the weather reaches below -30 celsius degrees, we will not go ahead with the trip. If you decide to spend several nights we will email you a list of necessary equipment that you should bring.
